About I-CARE

I-CARE (Illinois Curing Autism through Research and Education) is a non-profit organization, comprised exclusively of volunteers, created to  fund medical research for autism, and to provide educational resources for families of children with autism in Illinois. The I-Run/Walk 5K for Autism Research Race, has raised over $185,000. $90,000 has been distributed to medical research in the field of autism, while the remainder is allocated for furthering autism awareness and education.

I-CARE is actively working on this goal by running workshops and conferences in which they schedule experts to educate parents and professionals. This continuing workshop series has given parents and educators in the Chicago area access to leaders in the field of autism such as Dr. Vincent J. Carbone.  I-CARE also opened an Autism Resource Center for families with a child or adult diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in April, 2004. The Autism Resource Center is housed at the Good Shepherd Center located in Flossmoor, IL.

Additionally, in an effort to promote public awareness, the Arts for Autism children's CDwas produced to benefit I-CARE and their efforts.
